DRAKARUS: GOT Gets Hot Ratings Despite Leaks

Westeros gets a taste of the Mother of Dragons' wrath!!!

WARNING: GOT SPOILERS AHEAD! If you haven’t watched it yet and spoilers raise your hackles,  by all means, turn your heel and go your merry way!

Last Sunday we all got to watch the latest episode of season 7 of the top-grossing HBO TV series Game of Thrones in all its HD glory and, man! Was it epic!

The Loot Train Attack

Entitled The Spoils of War but more popularly referred to as The Loot Train Attack now, it turned out to be the highest rated episode of the viral show to date. The massive horde of Dothrakis advancing against the soldiers that annihilated the Tyrell army and caused the death of the internet favorite, beloved sassy old Lady Olenna, was a thrill to behold. And when some of the Dothraki warriors stood on their horses during the battle, well, most of the female fans — specifically those that prefer half-naked muscular men — just pretty much lost it.

And then, the moment all fans have been waiting for ever since the three dragon eggs hatched on Khal Drogo’s funeral pyre at the end of season one: Daenerys Stormborm of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynars and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons charges towards the battle on the back of one of her dragons, Drogon. Heck, even merely the sound of those dragon wings beating was enough to send chills down everyone’s spines.

Khal Drogo Reacts

The sequence that fans and viewers still can’t get enough of though is when Drogon, whose name is a hommage to Daenerys’ late husband Khal Drogo, started burning the Lannister army to crisps. Even Khal Drogo Actor Jason Momoa couldn’t contain his excitement regarding the episode. And of course, his pride towards Game of thrones co-star Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys. Much love!

No GOT Leak Can Defeat Us!!!

A hacker initially infiltrated HBO and leaked the script for The Spoils of War. This was immediately followed by a leak of the actual episode three days before its official HBO airing. Not from the same hacker this time, but rather from Star India – one of HBO’s international partners. The hacker is reportedly still trying to extort a ransom from HBO in exchange for the emails, internal documents and other related content. No matter. His threat is turning out to be a dud anyway. Contrary to expectations, The Spoils of War broke the record for highest-rated GOT episode ever! The title was previously held by the current season’s premier last July 16th, garnering 10.1 million views. Regardless of the leak, the Loot Train Attack pushed the fourth episode into getting 10.2 million views, beating the record by a mere hairline.

More to Come

Despite how The Spoils of War may be the best GOT episode to date, this is barely just a taste. There is more – loads more – to come! There still are alliances to be made, bonds to be broken, a few long-anticipated deaths here and there. Oh, and by the way, the White Walkers are coming. Enough spoilers for now. Hold on to your seats because tomorrow night, the game for the Iron Throne will only get hotter.

Sek, k’athjilari.
