Reedus was born on January 6, 1969, as Norman Mark Reedus, Jr. in Hollywood, Florida. The family later moved to Los Angeles where Reedus was raised. He also lived in Japan, Spain, and Ireland. Reedus is of Italian, English, Irish, and Scottish descent.

Reedus worked at Harley-Davidson in Venice, California earning $7.50/hour. He was discovered at a party in Los Angeles when a fellow party-goer asked if he’d ever acted.

Mingus is a big fan of his father’s character on “The Walking Dead.” In a quote on IMDB, the actor explains that Mingus’s room is nothing but Daryl Dixon paintings, dolls, lighters, and tattoos, sent from fans. And, Reedus is a big Mingus fan too. His son’s name is tattooed on his right forearm.
