Action comedy franchise, “Charlie’s Angels”, is now getting rebooted years after it ended in 2003 and reports claimed that the film already has a confirmed writer. Moreover, talks about the upcoming reboot include Emma Watson as a part of the cast.
Years since the three women working for a private investigation agency that was featured in television series and movie franchise ended, “Charlie’s Angels” will be getting a reboot that will be helmed by “Pitch Perfect” 2 director Elizabeth Banks. Also, according to AV Club, the successful director has hired a writer for her upcoming film. 2014’s Hercules writer, Evan Spiliotopoulos, is the one who’s going to scribe the anticipated action film. However, these reports were still in early talks as Spiliotopoulus hasn’t confirmed the news.
Fans should be worried about the credibility of Spiliotopoulus as he’s been a writer for some of the past films and other highly anticipated films. Coming Soon stated that the writer had cut his teeth on doing “The Little Mermaid” Ariel’s Beginning and Pooh’s Heffalump Movie besides the Hercules that featured Dwayne Johnson.
In addition to his credits, he is also part of “The Huntsman: Winter’s War”, and Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast” in 2017. Lastly, he is scheduled for writing the Universal’s Wanted sequel; the original was starred by James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie. His credibility should not ruin the hopes of the fans, but rather, the reboot might benefit with an excellent balance of humor and action.
Lastly, since Spiliotopoulus will write for the “Beauty and the Beast” starring Emma Watson, there have been speculations that Watson might also be featured in Elizabeth Banks’ unknown new cast. Rumours were started by Australia Network News in which Emma Watson could be one of the angels in Charlie’s Angels reboot. The article didn’t expand on the rumours and said it is still a solid strength for “Harry Potter” Hermione to join. Nevertheless, others are still hoping that she’ll be cast in the upcoming reboot.
“The Charlie’s Angels” reboot will be the next American action spy film that will feature the three women. There were trials about reviving the show on television series but ended up with only eight episodes.
